Assignment 3-1 Weekly Analysis 3 due April 18

Getting more done!
Many of us know that it is hard to juggle the everyday things that need done. For me it is chemo treatments with my mom, the basic house work, and my school work. There are days that it seems that I can’t get anything accomplished and my stress level is high. I actually came across this article, while my mom was doing her chemo treatment. The magazines are out dated, but I still enjoy reading most of the articles.
The title stood out! “Get more done every day”; I knew this was something that I needed to read. Julie Morgenstern is the one that came =up with these six steps that may be able to help.
First is to uncover your real roadblocks. I know that I’m guilty of this myself; I blame other things for what is really stopping from getting my work done. There are days when I just can’t get motivated to do anything, but instead of trying to get things done, I make excuses. Second is to manage your goals. I too am guilty of over estimating what I can get done in a day’s time, and then get frustrated because I didn’t get them done. Setting limits ensures that you won’t get burned out, and setting targets you can achieve gives you the motivation to make your goals happen. Third is dividing and conquer. Writing the things that you have/want to do on a calendar can help you accomplish what you want to do. It also helps if you put a time frame down. Forth is to create office hours; this doesn’t necessarily applies to everyone. Define you break time is the fifth thing listed. Allowing only a certain amount of time for a break will help keep you from doing unproductive work. Everyone needs a break, if not you will soon be burnt out and not feel like doing anything. And last is don’t get derailed, life happens and sometimes it is hard to stay on track. Things come up that are out of our control, but choosing at least one thing to focus on and make it a priority to get done, helps us stay on task.
It seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. I find myself staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning trying to get stuff done, and have to be up no later than 7 the next day. I’m extremely tired most days, and I can’t seem to get things done. I will try anything just to be able to organize my life. I thought this article was neat, because it kind of relates to my everyday stresses.
