Assignment 2-2 Icon Anaylsis

The three icons that I chose are Dale Jr., Guardian Angels, and the Pillsbury dough boy. If you watch NASCAR you probably know who Dale Jr. is. When I say guarding angels, I mean the figurines and pendants, and the like. Pillsbury dough boy is the face of the Pillsbury Company.
The reason that I think Dale Jr. is an icon is because he is perhaps the most known driver of NASCAR. Most times when you think about NASCAR you think of him. Even if you don’t like him, his name will come up whenever talking about NASCAR. I picked guardian angels because they are becoming popular again. People need to believe that there is someone watching over them, besides God. The Pillsbury dough boy is so cute and he has the cutest little laugh which draws people in.
Dale Jr. is my favorite driver of all time, and well he is held up on a pedal stool in my mind. The one that means the most to me is the guardian angel. I don’t know how many for sure that I have bought and received as gifts over the past couple of years. The pendants and figurines hold no powers, but it comforts me when I have them near. I have a necklace that I wear all the time, and whenever I’m stressed or depressed I rub my fingers over it. It doesn’t do anything expect remind me that there is more to this life than what is happening now. I can remember when I was little that I didn’t want anything other cinnamon rolls than Pillsbury or my grandmas. I loved going to the store when they had the display case that when you pushed his belly he would do his trademark laugh.

  1. The Pillsbury Dough Boy! hee hee
He has been around for years and changed very little. My oldest daughter was so taken by him, my sister somehow found a PDB doll and a few other things that she absolutely loved. wish I had kept it around for prosterity now.
